I bought a computer from staples a year last Jan. Just the box with all the "gubbings", sorry about the low tech speak. Its got a K7VZA motherboard with a 750mhz processor, aguy told me yesterday that my the 750mhz is the max it will take. I think its got a sound module and graphics card inbuilt( or onboard) into the motherboard. 250Mb of Ram memory. All in all I cant do too much with the computer. Its fine for Internet access etc etc and not much else. My question is, if I want to play games on the computer, what build do I need in my computer, also I am obviously looking at a budget too.

It depends on which game......
Essentially you would need a fast processor (and associated motherboard), I would suggest 512MB DDR RAM, probably at least 128MB Graphics card (on-board graphics are geberally not upto gaming as they use system memory), a soundcard (any old one). These won't come cheap so do plently of research before committing your cash.

I'm in a similar position with my gransons PC and have come to the conclusion that the best option is to buy a new computer - it works out cheaper than trying to update his present one. I'll probably stick with with his present monitor to save cash although a new TFT screen would be nice!!I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
