    EXTREME FRUGALITY WEEK :D

Only stubbed my toe a couple of times walking around in the dark :rotfl:

Weekly washing total: 2 (Mon & Tues)
Ironing reduction challenge: difficult as it was mainly shirts (didn't iron the tea towels)
    Dishwasher: washed up last night
    Gas usage: 3 units - £3.72
    electricity: 18 units - £2.16
Shower: turned off whilst washing and didn't use any conditioner, towel dried hair (may be frugal but now I look like Crystal Tips - you need to be old to remember this )
Driving: DH had to take DSS2 to dentist
Food: made lasagne from batch cooked mince and used up salad. Had to buy cheese and some soup for DS.

Quite pleased with my frugality for day 1.

    Daily food budget £8.00

    VO survey: 0.75/3.25
    YouGov survey:0/10.50
    Ad Points: 102/352
    OnePoll: 5.50

DS and DD are both off sick - must ring programming course to switch his lesson

EXTREME FRUGALITY WEEK - DAY 2

Washing - 0 (total of 2 for the week)
    ironing- folded pjs :D
Dishwasher - managed to stop the dishwasher which only had 3 plates and 2 cups in it!
Shower - turned off whilst washing
Gas usage - 3 units (6 units for the week) £3.72
Electricity - 17 units (35 units for the week) £2.04
Driving - 12 miles to take kids to their dads
Food - waiting for the waft of curry to come from the kitchen - don't understand why DSS2 is still slobbing infront of the TV as he said he wanted to cook a curry tonight with the turkey I took out the freezer!

Daily food budget £7.57 picked up some bargain discounts from Waitrose last night which has taken my daily budget down but should help through out the rest of the month

    VO - £1.75 (£5 total)
    OnePoll £0.40 (£5.90 total)
    SurveyHead £1.00 (£5.50 total)
    Screenwise £0.25 (£2.25 total)
    Adpoints 101 (453 total)
    Tesco points 20 (1027 total)

Not a bad day though I've nearly watched all the ads that I can and some of the surveys are mindnumbingly boring!

Started reading The Millionaire Nextdoor which I got as a free pdf download - makes for interesting reading - a definite if you are under 35 - bit late in the day for me!

On the contrary - there's a great chapter on why you shouldn't give your adult kids money :rotfl:

Blimey - never show to that to Old Mother Hurdler... she likes to still feel useful (although I have to tell her there are no such things as penny chews any more!)

  • Thanks Gallygirl and Hurdler - we're never too old to save but lets but lets just say I don't think I'll be getting rich off the back of it :rotfl:

DSS1 got a new job yesterday which means his income will be going up by about £600 a month - he wasn't on a lot before but now won't be doing too badly. I desperately want to encourage him to put half of it away but somehow I don't think it will happen. Instead I will give him the book to read :)

I wait until I have used pretty much every dish/piece of cutlery in the house before turning mine on. I have even been known to have to salvage cutlery from the dishwasher to be able to have a soup at lunch.

Me too Pearla*merle me too

When my mum bought her last house over 20 years ago now it came with a brand new dishwasher - after 20 years it still hasn't been turned on and that is despite many years of 8 people living in the house and 16 for Sunday lunch

if it was within my control I would do exactly the same - I tend to wash up as i go along. Since going minimalist it is a little more tricky as I have a set of cutlery and plates for 8 which doesn't take much to become dirty in this household!
