Suggestions for places en-route from M5/M42 Bridport

My parents and I are going to near Bridport next month.
Looking for somewhere en-route, both going there and going home. Would like it to be south of where M42 ends with the M5.
Parents are both National Trust lifetime members. Are prepared to go up to 20 miles diversion from the route. Just want somewhere to spend 2-3 hours and have lunch.
Don't mind getting off a couple of junctions earlier on M5 if needed.
Given a large area for you to help me and my parents

Assuming I have understood your post correctly, how about:
Hanbury Hall between Droitwich and Bromsgrove (you would need Jct 5 on the M5 for this, H.Hall is about 5 miles from the junction, maybe a bit less)

We've stopped off there previously - very pretty garden. We didn't use the cafe as we had a picnic but we did see some of the cakes and they looked nicely presented.
We use the M5 a lot and as NT/EH members we try to avoid service stations and stop off at NT/EH places instead. A lot of the NT sites close to the M5 between Bristol and Birmingham (at least within your radius of 20 miles) tend to be small sites without cafes (or unless you would have a picnic with you?)DFW no.554 - Proud to be dealing with my debts :TDAVID TENNANT CAN PROBE ME WITH HIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER ANYTIME...:AFLYING THE FLAG FOR THE CAMBRIDGE BOOTS TARTS :happyhear0
