I didn't notice what area of the forum this was in, I genuinely thought it was going to be about rabbit hutches as all of the ones you can buy from chain petshops etc are too small for a rabbit to spend more than a couple of hours in each day.

I doubt it will really make any difference, as this wont improve housing size overall, it will just give those with deep pockets more choice, while the average person will remain in rather small housing.

    Action on Rabbit Hutches.

A much better subject for Caroline Lucas and the Greens to campaign on!

  • As a result the DCLG is also thinking about the possibility of "space labelling", which would give consumers a clear understanding of how much room there was in any property.

    Surely they cannot be serious!

Does anyone know any property that has been sold where the buyer has not been round to the house? Are buyers so stupid that they need a little label saying "This property is only 671 square ft"?

    Ridiculous!

    Free markets eh.

The wheelie bin storage will soon be bigger than the living space.

If there is a shortage of affordable housing then the obvious answer is to reduce the size and market very small one/two person basic hutches.
Like those japanese bed-sit hotel rooms.

I wonder what the average size house was before the 1920s the smallest house I have lived in was built in the 19th century.

the original foot of the 1880 house I am living in was 50 Sqm (4 rooms of 3.6mX3.6m) , but a bit extra for an outside toilet, this was a 2 up 2 down cottage (its had a few extensions since though!)

    RIBA's current recommendations for a 2 bed house is 83 sq m

so its not as if UK houses are suddenly 'undersized'!
  • i'd probably leave this alone.

few enough dwelling get built as it is.
