Help BACS??

Hopefully someone can help as I am clueless.
I have sold an item on eBay clearly stating PayPal only. The buyer doesn't have PayPal but is insisting a BACS transfer is better, easier etc. I'm not clued up on what it is, how it works. The buyer has asked for my sort code and account no and he will pay me immediately.
Is this safe or am I about to be done over.
Thank you in advance

Provided that you make sure that payment has arrived in your bank account then wait until the next day before sending the goods, accepting payment this way is safer & cheaper then paypal.
I've been told that BACS transfers have been know to get reversed, but this will only happen within a couple of hours of the transaction, hence the reason for waiting until the next day. (I don't know how true this is, but there's no harm in making sure).
There is no possibility of a paypal dispute and no paypal fees to pay, and giving your account number and sort code is less information than you give every time you write a cheque.0 -
Take it, less risk for you. You'll find the numbers on your bank statement.0

A UK to UK bank transfer cannot be reversed- so take it before buyer changes his mind.
