All I've done up until now is go and see an advisor every other week. They've looked at my CV, which they said was 'great'. And they referred me to a 30 minute interview techniques meeting at the national careers service.
I can tell you know the WP is a waste of time for those how have had a career and have a number of years experience.
They only can help drunks, drug addicts, people out of prison, people who have been fired and people who don't want to work.
Genuine people who spend every day looking for work they do not know what to do with you.
They should have advisors from different specialisms but they are not that specialist at all. In fact no one at my old WP had any accounts knowledge at all and had no idea even what it was I did. I had to explain to one advisor what Purchase Ledger was!!!We’ve had to remove your signature. I wish places like this would use some common sense, I have a degree, so surely I must be pretty literate. My degree also happens to be in engineering, which is pretty maths heavy, so surely I've also got rather good numeracy skills.
I may just fill some of the questions with nonsense and fail on purpose, there's no way it's going on my CV anyway. It would be like sticking "dunce" on my CV. And if I failed maybe the course teaching would be looked into.0 -
You were in a job 2 months agoI'd quite like to move out of my mothers house in the next couple of years, the problem is my job pays £15,000 and where I live houses are quite expensive (Warwickshire).
so how are you on the WP at this point?

Nope. I've had quite a few interview, I get between 2 and 4 per month, not all in engineering though. All of my feedback says something along the lines of: "you performed well in your interview, however we have decided to go with someone who more closely fits what we're looking for."
I got an upper second class honours degree (2:1) by the way. They keep showing on the news how manufacturing is on the rise. However it's nearly entirely workshop work. I wouldn't have the faintest idea of what to do in one.0 -

As I've already explained in another thread I was jumping the gun on that one, assuming I'd get the job. And I wanted to get some advice on how viable it would be to get a shared ownership house on that salary. If I'd put that I didn't have the job yet, I doubt I would have gotten the replies I was looking for.0 -
Employability is the latest buzzword. It's big in universities these days too.
The whole concept is a clever but subtle way of making people believe it's entirely their own fault if they can't get a job.
Yes skills in CV writing, interview technique etc are important but why won't politicians and business leaders accept they have a huge part to play by providing decent jobs for all?0 -

1. don't want to work
or
2. have a major barrier to employment
Both of which are not true for the majority of people. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Don't do this. I understand that this course is unhelpful to you, but go along with it, you won't be there for long. Intentionally putting nonsense on the work could well result in a doubt on your claim - it's not worth the hassle.0
