Incorrect detail on a quotation search record?

Just noticed on my credit report there is an error on a quotation search I assume I was distracted at the time and entered the information wrong, such a stupid mistake really, this would not affect my report would it? Do these searches drop off after six months if they do harm your record? and do I need to contact anyone to correct it please?

Is it showing as a Search or just an Enquiry.. They are quite different in how they are treated - as the credit file will explain..

It's shown as a quotation search, it was a quote for car insurance so it wasn't actually applying for credit.

Edit - there is a note stating: Insurance quotations are not shared with other lenders for credit decisions. This search may have been created via a price comparison website.

So I assume that means the error will have no bearing on my file?

sounds like it wasn't a credit search, so it wont effect anything

but even a single credit search wont have much of an impact

They try to tell you it won't affect your score but check your score before and then again after you've had quotes. Assuming nothing else changes, your score will go down.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
  • Thanks all. I was interested in the error on the date of birth whether that would affect my history, ie a hunter entry? is that what they call it?

It doesn't show up on my report as a credit search as such, it says I have had no credit searches in the last six months, and my score was the same before searching for insurance as was after the quotes.

I do know that there is one insurance company that doesn't do a soft search, I can't remember which one but when I called a broker to see about quote prices they said they could run some more details through the system but it would leave a print as one of the companies leaves a credit search on the file and did I want to proceed. I wonder if that could be what happened to you datlex? I think it was LV or something similar to that?

The main details that would count are what you put on the actuall application form (since they are the material facts the insurance policy is based upon).. Quotation searches only show for your information and are not disclosed on credit searches..

PS Datlex the credit score with the reference agency counts for absolutely nothing..

how would one do that exactly ?
considering lenders dont even reveal the criteria they use, let alone the scores themselves

And if its not even shown to lenders, how can it possible effect their score?
