Do look and have a chuckle at the Watchdog Daily quote from the 'Excel spokesman' on the POPLA appeal example I just linked above! It's perfect for this case and the POPLA appeal there was about the Peel Centre I think.

Looks like I have panicked and sent in a short appeal
Ill email them with the new details provided above and see if they can update the case
Its horrible anyone should have to go through this just all for profiteering of innocents trying to go to the shops!

Email POPLA and IN ADDITION, send your extra evidence by post AS WELL (10 DIGIT CODE ON EVERY PAGE, STAPLED TOGETHER OF COURSE NOT PAPER-CLIPPED!). Make it clear it's not a new case, it's an existing POPLA appeal just lodged with the wrong appeal in error, and is attached is the appeal you meant to send all along (use the version I linked), suitably tweaked a little if need be.

Do not just waste your entire POPLA chances by adding nothing; a weak appeal WILL LOSE.

Complain to the Peel Centre as well, why not, Excel deserve some complaints flooding in from customers:

Because im stupid and the letters are doing what they are set out to do. I have an excel deadline and wanted to get the appeal in before then. I know I shouldn't have done this way. Apologies to everyone who has helped

Any way I can find out the peel center CEOs email address etc?
I'm half tempted to get a protest going on a Saturday afternoon outside the place after hearing how many people on here have been affected-I thought it was just me. Total scum doing disabled people too!

Google the Centre to find out who runs it.

But hope you have now sent off that full appeal to POPLA?

Hello all …..I WON!!!!

Just wanted to say a massive massive thankyou to everyone who commented and contributed to this thread

　

I contacted the peel centre people and they cancelled for me, but at the same time I received a decision in my favour from popla

So even better excel got charged for forcing me go to them!

　

Its great that I could come here and see people in the same situation as me

I am a serial complainer and always argue decisions, but ill admit I was ready to pay the tenner to make this go away at one point

So if I’m willing to pay I dread to think how much they have got out of innocents over the years

　

My question is – Is there more we can do to stop all this?

　

When I came on here and saw the amount of complaints/appeals against the peel center etc I couldn’t believe it

Its basically one massive scam set out to screw customers and make money

　

When I rang excel and tried to reason with them their response was disgraceful

I kept being asked to be put through to a senior manager but they passed me around kept me on hold etc

They would not reason in any way and kept saying either pay £100 or deal with POPLA

I finally got through to Margaret Edwards (probably a made up name as none of them would give me a surname or employee number) and she purposefully cut me off

The whole attitude of the company stinks and is terrible what they do to people

　

Is there any social media campaign or awareness on what’s happening here? If not can we start one?

They need to be named and shamed in some way

If you think that this would bother them, then you are sadly mistaken. They are in a "profession" that exists only on taking exorbitant sums from the public based upon dubious rights.

Even if you did expose them further, they would wear it like a badge of honour in the "profession".

Forget it and move on. You have a victory so be glad.

Could you possibly tell us:

- who exactly was the person who cancelled it for you (as this may help others)?

- what phone number or email address did you find for the Peel Centre and which firm runs it or owns it, please? It will help newbies to know this.

- how come POPLA said you had won already, do you mean that Excel didn't contest it as they'd been told to cancel it?! What did the POPLA reply say because they wouldn't have made a decision yet unless you sent your POPLA appeal in 2 months ago? Did it just say Excel had cancelled it?!
