Hi my head gasket has failed on my skoda fabia AA said thermostat housing had melted, any advice on cost to repair

wouldnt it be easier to ring a couple of garages and ask them for a price? or do you mean a DIY price?

Depends on what ancillary damage has occurred, like warped head .

That said. Last time I did a head gasket it cost me :

£22 Non genuine Head Gasket
£36 Non genuine Head Bolts
£8 Non Gen Cam Cover Gasket
£16 for inlet and Exhaust Gaskets
£4 Thermo-Stat
£13 Cam Belt
£8 Cam Belt Adjusting Wheel
£15 for tools I didn't have and should have
£40 for a head skim and Pressure Check


And it took 7 hours spread over 3 days (Had to take head to a place in Bootle and go back 2 days later)

I was quoted £400 by an independent

It was an old 1.4 8V astra mk3

Do not ever do this.... EVER. (Just google "K-Seal problems" for thousands of reasons why).

There must have been a massive overheat for the thermostat to melt....
