PV Panel Export rate

Options
I have had solar panels installed for a few months now and have been trying to negotiate with EDF over the export rate I am getting. At present I get the basic 4.5p Kwh (now 4.55p actually) but I believe this is often negotiable, maybe I'm mistaken. Also I am not using anywhere near 50% of what I generate since I am at work during the week.
Anyway the EDF Green team told me the FIT rate is the real benefit of PV panels and the export rate is a bonus and wont negotiate at all. Is there a way of approaching them to either increase the 4.5p or the 50%?

Thanks.

It's news to me that it's negotiable.
You are deemed to export 50% of what you generate, and in the absence of an export meter (which would not be economic to fit, even if the FIT regs allowed for it to be calculated on that basis) there's no way of proving otherwise. EDF can't monitor when you are at home or not!
By al means try, but you are wasting your time.

I've an export meter but this is ignored and I get 50% of generation paid for the exports. For me that's not far from the reality in any case.
  • Frankly, I'd just be grateful that you're allowed to consume as much of the generation as you like yet still get paid the FiT for it.
