    I suspect they are set fairly high.

    This is because the PsTB have not managed to measure the distance between the cameras to the required level of accuracy.

    It's academic in this case, because there are no speed cameras of any type after the entrance to the S/Bound tunnel until you get past the Sun-in-the-Sands interchange, 1.5 miles after the S/Bound exit.

    No, they can inaccurately under read due to traffic, lane changes etc. But they can never innacureately over read. They're watching out for people going over the speed limit so it should not be a problem catching speeders.

    If you were to straightline every corner point to point at the speed limit, it wouldn't bust you for speeding.

    So, if you're driving normally, following the bends in the road, changing lane etc, the distance covered will be greater, allowing the average speed to be greater.
