Recently sold an item on ebay and the buyer paid by paypal - unfortunately they had paid my old email address that was no longer registered with paypal so the money went unclaimed - after about a week of non payment (or so I thought) I contacted the buyer who stated that had paid by paypal to my old email address. I stated that this was the wrong address and politely asked them to get the money back from paypal (which they did) and resend payment either by cheque or to my other paypal address. This was never done so after a few more emails asking for payment I registered a non paying bidder. They responded to this stating "its not my fault that your paypal wasn't working and I have purchased another one". so I closed the dispute and issued a strike and since left bad feedback. They have also done the same saying I am "a fraudster" sour grapes me thinks.
Did I do the right thing? would anyone do anything different?

Leaving them bad feedback for a simple mistake seems a bit harsh...The money, Dave...0 -
I left them bad feedback because they refused to pay though.0

I probably wouldn't have left feedback. There seems to be lack of communication from both sides. Put it down to experience and move on0

I would not have left feedback or gone through the NPB process on a buyer that had paid but due to my own mistake did not get th epayment to me.
The buyer almost certainly has grounds for removal of the strike as you shouldn't NPB someone who has attempted to pay.

Looks like you put everything in the hands of the buyer - getting them to do the work for what was your own problem in having the wrong e mail address. I don't think it was worthy of a strike or negative feedback. The buyer paid really quickly as far as s/he was concerned. S/he should have told you that they decided not to go ahead with the sale after getting their money back. If you issue a strike for no good reason then I don't think you should be surprised that someone leaves you negative feedback. Overall, looks like there was some missing communication. Good luck with future sales.Aiming to take control of my life:A

Look at it the other way - you buy something, pay for it to the registered email address then get told to pay to a different email address. I bet there would be a post on here along the lines of 'Possible Scam?'0

If I was the buyer I would be calling you more than a fraudster. Go and get it sorted out with them and apologise at once and grovel for a feedback removal.
Think I need to bump my thread from earlier this week!!0 -
you are at fault im afraid0

......left bad feedback.
Did I do the right thing?
Absolutely not! You are completely in the wrong for not making sure your credentials are up to date and also bang out of order for leaving them negative feedback! I mean, how dare you!
You should have the common decency to contact Ebay and ask for your feedback to be removed from their feedback file and send your buyer an email apologising.
