Great news. Just been given £100 for poor service from FD bank. An apology would have sufficed. Straight into the mortgage. Also, £50 from YouGov, but I am keeping this as I need to go shopping and to buy diesel, so it will help with my everyday cash flow until payday. I think Nationwide will pay out soon, that will be another £200, then HSBS with £125. Barclays may take some time, Also, waiting for the Car Finance Company decision now. Think this one may take longer! No problem, I can wait. On top of all this, I am expecting the Cost of Living payment from work this month, backdated, so that may just give a small lump sum I can pay across. If I can reduce the December final mortgage payment, I will have more to spend on Christmas, so a double celebration. Lower final payment alongside it being the last payment.
I still have the Evoque to sell. The weather has not been great, so can't get outside to clean and polish so I can take some photos. Plus, I am not sure people will want to buy this close to Christmas. May be best to wait until January, but it's not good to leave it sat there without turning a wheel for months on end. A real dilemma.
Anyway, still upbeat about the end being nigh! What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Managing to get ahead slowly, without the help of the bank accounts. No Nationwide or Barclays money. A shame, but that won't stop the march to the end. Nearly there. Hopefully, I should have paid the mortgage off by 10 December 2023, a couple of weeks earlier.
Still not managed to get into Christmas as yet, focusing on this task. Once it is done, I can look to the fun part of the month, with greater joy.
Still have to sell my car. Think I will wait until the New Year, most people will want to spend their money on Christmas I think, so whatever disposable capital they have left in they New Year can be focused on their larger purchases. Anyway, that's how I would think.
I did go to the Chester Christmas Market. It was small, but really nice with the rest of the city decked out for the festive season. £9.00 for a cheeseburger. Absolute extortion, but it happens only once a year!

So close now! How will you celebrate?Aiming to early retire December 31st 2026.1

@glass_half_full, I think the celebrations will just merge into Christmas for the on the spot festivities. After that, I think planning of a trip away would be nice, a quick weekend in the Campervan in January at some point. I am anticipating it being a bit of an anti-climax, having struggled to get to this point for 10 years and 4 months. Its not like most people would celebrate with you, they don't understand why you would put your money into this particular activity. Then of course is the issue that some people are struggling financially and saying you have enough money to overpay, it doesn't necessarily go down well. So, a low key celebration it is.What I do not give, you must never take by force.

End of the month and I owe £1,200. So, based on my regular payments, I will pay £1000 on 6 December and £200 on 10 December. Then, I will ring the bank and notify them that I no longer owe them anything! I know I don't have to, but I will enjoy doing it anyway. That will be the mortgage gone and I can then cancel my Standing Orders and from that point onwards, my wage will be my own. So nearly there!! Excited! What I do not give, you must never take by force.
