Undercharged for my Electricity

I moved to Scottish Power last October on one of the fixed deals. I gave them my meter reading and then they sent a meter reader in to get them too.
I have a cheaper night rate. I have just been checking my bills which I only get online so I haven't looked at too closely before as they have all seemed quite reasonable compared to my previous supplier. But it looks to me now that I am being charged at the wrong rates. E.G I'm being charged the night rate for my daytime use and vise versa. I haven't worked it out in detail but I guess I have been undercharged by about £150. As they had sent in their own meter reader, does anyone know if that means that they can't ask me for the extra amount or am I still liable for it?
Any help greatly appreciated

You're liable. You used the energy under their terms and conditions. The meter reader they employed is clearly incompetent, but that doesn't excuse you from paying I'm afraid.

Do you submit your own readings? It's best to submit your own every month to keep on top of things :)

Thanks bob bank spanker(love the name!!) Yes I have also been submitting my own reading but my meter shows four different numbers on a rolling digital display, and although there are numbers 1 and 2 next to them when I submit these onto my account they list the meter readings in order of 2 and then 1 which is another reason I have only just noticed the problem. Well there is no way I can afford an £150 bill so I guess I had better ring them as it is only going to get worse.

They should allow you to pay off the arrears over the same period that they have arisen.
Meter should show rate 1, rate 2 and the cumulative total.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

You are liable. And if you are being undercharged over winter then you need to come off Economy 7.

Even if you weren't liable, you should pay anyway because if they ever find out, they'll sting you for everything you owe.
