I sent barclays data exceptions team a letter asking them for a copy of the default notice which referred to an account on my credit file for a defaulted current account, it defaulted in 2008 and I never heard anything from them.
However I sent a letter asking for the notice of default, they recieved the letter on the 30th July 2013 recorded delivery. Today I recieved a reply o. The 19th August 2013 stating that the debt had been sold on the 31st and I should now contact the company which it was sold to.
I was under the impression if an account is in dispute they can't sell it and why did barclays sell it the day after they recieved my letter asking them to substantiate the data ?
I phoned the debt company who I also recieved a letter from today and explained this, the advisor said they had recieved the debt on the 7/8/2013.
This all seems very under handed
Does anyone have any ideas ?

Sounds underhanded but you might as well just ask the DCA to provide the information. What will your verse be?
