Agree with above - I've got Sophos on mine and it's nice and unobtrusive.
Saying you don't need antivirus is a very big step towards getting one...

That written, I accept that some people do need to run things that only work on Windows and thus have no alternative but to stump up for Windows and deploy it in one of the ways you have listed.

I agree with all your points, but my post was purely directed to the fact that you can run Windows OS on a mac should you want too and in a range of ways.

but for my needs there is occasions when i have need to run windows OS and i have found that parralls works the best for me. but the majority of the time i am running OSX and can't wait for mavericks to be released

also Iwork for Icloud is ablsoulety wonderful :T
