Tree stump killer
Which is the best value - don't mind paying more as long as it works, but it's for an elder not for a huge tree trunk.
Roundup is dearer (but says it works on JK as well, which might come in handy if any more escapes from my neighbours), or Bayer which doesn't seem quite as strong.
Recommendations?

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I've gotta ask, why can't it be dug out?0 -
Because I'm very small and not sure I'm physically up to it - the proverbial 7 stone weakling!
I'm going to give it a try, but it's quite close to a fence and awkward to get to and I'm not the fittest or strongest of people at the best of times. And no-one else I'd like to ask at the moment.
So I thought if I used the stump killer it'll give me more time to keep plugging away without it keeping growing at me again. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Buy concentrated glyphosate (ebay is cheap, garden centre is convenient, the concentration is on the packet), dilute, drill holes in stump, pour in glyphosate. Pulling out roots is a real pain, you dig round and under, and sever the roots with a lopper or whatever.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

I had some tree stumps to remove and after getting quotes for £1700 and grinder hire charges, one Sunday I decided to have a go, within an hour the stumps were removed, they were not that deep , simply dug around them, then used a hoe to remove the soil under the roots, IIRC used the spade to cut the main roots.0 -
It depends on your soil. If like me you have heavy clay soil full of flints, then digging out a big stump can take many hours of hard work with a fork and spade, it took me at least half a day to dig out a Weigela stump, and the main roots were too thick for a spade. Hopefully the OP has soft soil with few stones. No harm trying.

Clay and stone, unfortunately. Hence the need to keep going back to it. Possibly over a period of many weeks.....or months........All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Some packaged as tree stump killers are just Glyphosphate and you put them on neat.
I like SBK Brushwood killer its Triclopyr rather than glyphosphate and will not kill any grass surrounding the stump.0 -

I don't know what the soil is, I'm not green fingered to be honest.

In fact I remember it taking probably as long to thet the stump into the wheel barrow as to dig it out

DUTR - these are the clearest photographs I've ever seen posted on this site. Your talents are wasted!
However, on the question of killing of tree stumps, the old fashioned way is to hammer some copper nails into it. It takes some time to totally kill it off, but it does work.0 -

They are all camera phone pics, the 1st 5 are with an xperia ray, the last one with an xperia z,
I have read too about the copper nails, but even with the stump dead, it still requires removal, and wow are they heavy
