I transferred my balance to a 0% MBNA account and set up a DD with the application form. The first payment didn't go though in time due to the bank not setting it up promptly so I got a late charge and lost my 0% rate!
Is there anything that I can do, as I have only just noticed this 6 months down the line! I have rung them up, but they are claiming its not their fault and I should have checked statements. I normally would have, but was heavily pregnant at the time and had other things on my mind!!!
Any advice is much appreciated.

The bank doesnt set up the direct debit. MBNA does. However, d/d rules require at least 10 days notice to be given.
You are also told on your statement if the payment will be collected via direct debit. If it isnt on the statement then you are largely stuffed. It is on the statement then its MBNA's fault, not yours.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Sorry but its your responsibility to pay the credit payment payments. A statement is issued.
Find out if they have put it on your credit record, if not then I would just apply for a different 0% card and say adios if you must have a 0% card.0 -
"but they are claiming its not their fault"
Which is correct.0 -

What did it say on your first statement? Did it say the payment would be taken by Direct Debit? Did you complete a DD mandate or have anything confirming that a DD would be set up?http://www.lendingstandardsboard.org.uk/docs/lendingcode.pdf
