county court scam

Applied to my local county court for my decree of absolute reference number from 1996, I was told it was £45 and no refund if they failed to find it so I said its not worth it but they said if it was definitely my home town it wasn't a problem so I payed. First they said they had found it but my divorce name didn't match and I have to apply to London for another £65 as the records dating back from 1997 were not complete in my local office anymore and it was a gamble. If i was told this first,I could have payed the extra £20 to London Registry but she says I couldn't have my money back.I thought this country was helpful in marriages but it is all a rip off. I'm left out of pocket. Is there anyway I can appeal, as I want to expose them to papers as this is the biggest rip off,my partner applied too and had the same excuse. We have paid £90 and it has left us feeling like mugs:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

You can sue whoever you want for whatever reason you want.

Whether you succeed (and in this case its extremely slim, actually slimmer than that) is another thing.

Do you have all this (they said, I said) in writing?
  • i dont have anything recorded my friend,it was all in a phone call today,i asked who i could report them too but she said i didnt have a leg to stand on basically

It's a joke (sort of) because you don't seem to be able to use basic grammar correctly.

Then it would amount to hearsay (he said, she said) which is a very very weak starting point in a lawsuit.
  • Thanks for your advice,do you know if i could contact anyone to make a complaint .

Put your complaint in writing to the court manager c/o the county, detailing exactly what was said.

Although with no written proof it will be an extremely difficult case to build.
