Just seen a glimpse on the news.

The case - brought by Birmingham City Council - related to the price of 400g punnets of British strawberries.

Waiting for further updates.

If Trading Standards in all the towns and cities that Tesco has branches were on the ball and not taking back handers then Tesco would be in court hundreds of times a week !

I have not been in a Tesco for ages, possibly 2 years. Detest the company and their bad mannered and grumpy staff !

I'm sure you were as surprised as I was! :rotfl:

I imagine the twisting cheats at Tesco were surprised to get caught though - and to get a £300,000 fine.

No that that will make much difference to the way they behave. Love the way they're trying to blame the staff for it! :D

It won't bother Tesco in the least. Someone will tap a few buttons and a penny will go onto the price of enough items to get the money back plus any costs they incurred.

This appears to relate to Tesco upping the price for a period then cutting it and claiming it's 'half price' (or less), which apparently they didn't do deliberately. Or they did it unknowingly. :rotfl:
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

So they earn £2.3m and get a fine of £300,000.

A nice round £2m profit. Well that'll learn 'em.

Where's the Proceeds of Crime Act when you need it?
