That's the joy of shopping at Aldi and Lidl. Much lower prices, same, if not better, quality, and none of the Tesco fake pricing.
Aldi/Lidl prices are genuine - they don't manipulate them in the way that Tesco do theirs. And that even applies to the wines.

I knew you meant the complaining shopper. She's dead now...

Customer Daphne Smallman stood up to Tesco in fight over £1.99 punnets
Supermarket is fined two years after she launched a battle in Birmingham
Punnets were sold at £4/£3 for two weeks - while promotion was 14 weeks
But Solihull resident Miss Smallman died aged 78 in February from cancer
Well RIP Miss Smallman.
That was a great legacy to leave - a thumb in the eye to Tesco :rotfl:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Revenge from beyond the grave - it's just a pity she'll never know the satisfaction of being a peoples' champion. That was a great legacy to leave - a thumb in the eye to Tesco :rotfl:Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Not sure why it was moved to DT as it's about *food, shopping and groceries*, I would have thought this was the right forum for it.0

Never paid £1.99 (or full price) for a punnet of strawberries. It has to have that nice little yellow sticker on it for me to purchase them.
I did get a great bargain in co-op the other week though in relation to punnet of strawberries. Two large punnet for £1. Was quite pleased with that little find. Clearly the stores are over-stocking on strawberries as I've seen crates full being reduced.0 -
If it was not for people complaining to the Local Standards bods...these companies would be ramping on lots of prices...seems to be a few shills on this thread...I refer to my byline below ...
Ad hominem
An attack upon an opponent in order to discredit their arguement or opinion. Ad hominems are used by immature and/or unintelligent people because they are unable to counter their opponent using logic and intelligence.0 -
I agree with Lagoon here, I couldn't care less what the price WAS, if it's a price I'm willing to pay NOW, and I want the item, I get it. If I don't want it, I won't get it, even if it was 10 quid the week before!0

And nobody sent to jail.
Business is effectively legalised crime.
Of course if I tried to defraud Tesco I would be in jail.0 -
Thats nothing! A couple of years ago I saw a whole crate of punnets at Sainsbos, reduced to just 10p each and perfect. I bought 7, ate 2 and washed and froze the rest for smoothies. Now that was a good dealsenileturtle wrote: »Never paid £1.99 (or full price) for a punnet of strawberries. It has to have that nice little yellow sticker on it for me to purchase them.

Absolutely.
Pointless starting a discussion in this thread when the discussion's already in full flow in MrsBartolozzi's link above.
