This idea that the OP must keep a bedroom free in her house for each child for the rest of their lives in case they want it is ridiculous. Supporting your child is much more complex than keeping a room available for them and not doing it doesn't mean you're neglecting them.
I don't think anyone ever said that. I plan on having two spare bedrooms when I downsize, one of which be an office/study/boxroom and one a spare bedroom. So I could if need be accommodate 2 of my 3 at a pinch.
The OP will have one spare bedroom for 4 possible return to nesters. Which isn't enough, except there are 2 spare parents for these children who could shelter elsewhere.0 -

Assuming they return, assuming the OP would want to live with them again, assuming the children wouldn't rather stand on their own two feet...
In fact, what's wrong with expecting them to stand on their own two feet? Plenty of people don't go back home after uni. If parents don't move on then, when may they? When the child is 30? 40?0
