Paint

Hi All

Can anyone tell me which is a good paint, I am painting the house and need the paint that I can wipe off if something goes on top of it, Sorry to ask such a silly question but not done it ever before so dont know. It is for interior walls. I would need about 50 Litres of it so anyone knows a good place to buy it from at a good price.

Thanks

Bretts

The wipeable paint would usually be vinyl silk, but unless it sez washable don't slosh water over in case water gets through the paint and it bubbles up.

I agree that Crown emulsions have good colour clarity so if you can get them for a good price, go for it. BS (British Standards) paints are made to a standard recipe, although they may have different names in different shops so you buy them by the code eg BS 10 C 31. I buy them from Brewers and use them on non-horsehair plaster walls plus the low odour oil eggshells on woodwork and very happy with them.

If you're just sloshing on paint for frst home or a buy to let or somethig and you're more fussed about price, Wickes does a Trade range and you can get 10L tubs really cheap.

My own painting experience, having started as a newbie like you, is if you undercoat when using expensive paint you don't waste any. Plus buying fashionable colours in small amounts can be a nightmare when it gets discontinued after 6 months !

Thank you so much for your replies.
I am just going for good old magnolia and just had the walls skimmed and hence there is a white plaster coat going on them at the moment, I dont know if the undercoat would do the same thing or no.
Builder suggested Dulux or Leyland and hence wanted an opinion from everyone who have really done these sort of work as to which one is best as I know builders would do everything to cut corners.

Leyland is a good trade paint...used it a few times its reasonably priced and seems good quality.

Bought quite a bit of crown in B&Q on 3 for 2 as was dulux...leyland I think was from toolstation.

pesonally I didnt like painting with the Crown, found it was quite watery and needed another coat each time I used it...but OH had no problems. I guess its what you get used to
