IVA failed nearly 6 years ago

My IVA failed 6 years ago and after getting a recent credit report from Experian I have found that the credit files have been dissapearing.

I can also see the IVA on there under public records.

What will happen next, will the IVA public record disappear after 6 years?

Your IVA will remain unless you send a copy of your termination certificate for them to update their records.

Do you have the termination certificate?

Actually, the IVA Failed reference will drop off after 6 years from the date.

I just read that the the creditors of statute barred debts can still default them after the 6 years is this true?

If the debt has already been defaulted, and it should have been if included in an IVA, then creditors cannot default it again. The default, account and all history will be removed 6 years from the original default, no matter what.

If creditors did not add a default at the time, then it is too late for them to add a new one now. A new default at this stage would not be an accurate depiction of the account history, so if they did you could complain to get it removed.
