Santander Credit Card debt gone?

Hey,
I had a credit card with Santander which I defaulted on when I lost my job, I have been sofa surfing and without a phone for a fair few months.
I have just found out that I received letters a few months ago asking to set up a payment plan etc.
Today I managed to get my phone sorted and I called up Santander Credit Card line, I asked somebody if I could set up a payment plan, they said yes but let me check your account.
Once they checked my account they could not find the debt and said that I do not owe them any money.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Is my debt completely cleared? Is there a reason they would have wiped the debt?
The credit card was £3000 limit and it had apparently built up to around £3800 the last time I received letter but that was a couple months ago.
Thanks for any help in advanced.

Most likely sold to a DCA. Could the agent not give you any information about when/why the debt vanished?
With Santander's customer serivces, all you can be sure of is that the debt is somewhere. I'd phone them again and get them to dig into it further.0 -
