Halifax second rejection

Options
Hi all,

Just after a little bit of help, I tried to reclaim the PPI from my husbands Halifax credit card last year but they rejected the claim, after watching Martin :money: recently talking about PPI and how the Halifax seem to be just rejecting all claims and to go to the ombudsman I re-sent the complaint letter to Halifax (as the 6 month time period to complain to the ombudsman had lapsed). This morning we received a letter from the Halifax stating they were rejecting the claim again and as we did not refer the complaint to the ombudsman the first time they consider the case closed. Does anyone know if I can take the 2nd rejection to the ombudsman as I didn't realise just how bad the Halifax are at rejecting claims the first time?

Thanks

problem is that Halifax are not rejecting all claims. Indeed, they frequently use auto-payout and are paying out massive amounts.

You have 6 months from receipt of the first response to make your complaint to the FOS. Only if Halifax are saying you now have the right to go to the FOS on this latest response can you do so. Otherwise, they can tell the FOS they are applying the 6 month bar.

They are not. So, that is irrelevant. They are certainly scattergun in their approach and reject more than they should but you should have done as you were told and go to the FOS but you chose not to.

  • I'm afraid that as far as I am aware the six month rule applies in this situation.

The Halifax would only investigate a new PPI complaint involving a different account in case like this.

I had a rejection from Halifax as they said that I asked for PPI (but they could not produce any details as to who I was meant to have asked) and what with one thing and another, the six months slipped by and it's now too late to go to the FOS.

It's my own fault as six months is enough time to go to the FOS and the line has to be drawn somewhere.

Take it on the chin and move on :)
