I recieved an email today supposedly from the tax office saying I could claim tax back from my bank. The email address was
http://nalggroup.com/wp-content/file/refundportal.htm
should I open up this address or is it a scam?

Unless HMRC have changed their name to nalggroup, this is patently NOT from the tax office.0

thought it was a scam as I hadnt heard that you could claim tax back from the banks anyway. Thank you.0

it is a scam as its not HMRC. Also, HMRC dont issue personal emails like that.
However, non-taxpayers can register to have their interest paid gross and you can claim back past years that you were a non-taxpayer as well.
If you use a decent spam filter on your email then you would get most scam emails filtered out.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
