Vacuum cleaner watts 1200 or 1600

I understand the higher the watts are, the suction is better. I am debating whether to go for a Sebo K! Airbelt 1600 watts or Henry at 1200. Henry will be cheaper to run as the bags are not expensive compared to the sebo. Sebo is highly recommended and the watts are higher compared to Henry 1200 watts. I know a lot of members on this forum are fans of Henry, is the 1200 watts powerful enough as they are low compared to some cylinders on the market? Thanks

It's the air watts you need to consider, a 1600w vacuum that is inefficient, can be less powerful for suction than a 1200w effecient machine, it's not all about brand.

As above, look for the Air Watts rating. The Watts rating on a vacuum is completely pointless for determining the amount of suction (air pressure differential), all it tells you is how much power that unit is going to draw from it's supply.

For best efficiency, look for a high Air Watts value and a low Watts value. This will give you the most suck for your buck.:D
The airwatt is derived from English units. ASTM International defines the airwatt as 0.117354 * F * S, where F is the rate of air flow in ft3/min and S is the pressure in inches of water.

Yes Henry has very good suction. Newer versions have high/low switches. A friend only uses her Hetty on the low setting as that is powerful enough.

The main disadvantage of a Henry (or most other non-uprights) is that they do not have a beater bar to drive dust up from deep in the carpet.

But they are often easier to maneuver, and slightly more powerful.

You can buy a Henry extra, they have brush heads if you happen to have pets.

We have had an ordinary one for years, before we got the cat, I then bought one of the brush heads for about a tenner and its brilliant for pet hairs on a carpet.

Mine is about 15 years old and good as new, so for me Henry every time.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
