Car Insurance - Gocompare

I recently made a decision to use Gocompare for the first time to get a quote for my new car insurance.
1. why is it that when you receive a quote, you end up paying 20 to 30 pounds more in end, because they don't highlight their 'admin' fees?
2. The insurance company I went with, I have had all kinds of issues with. Has anyone had success with complaining to GoCompare about the quotes and the companies they end up listing, recommending ?

1. Small print is the norm for admin fees!
2. If you want to complain about an insurer then you need to use their complaints procedure which will be set out in the policy docs. That will mean you have the right to escalate the complaint to FOS if you are unhappy with the reply.0 -
If you have "all kinds of issues" with the insurer, why did you go with them?
The comparison websites (not just gocompare) tend to offer restricted cover, high xs, etc so that the insurer will get to the top of the list as most people on these sites search on price.
You can then go through to the actual website and tailor your quote.
What are the £20 / £30 admin fees? I was not aware that gocompare charged a fee to customers.
Ultimately it up to you which insurer you chose and the comparison sites can be useful.
I've found that the price I end up paying is rarely as low as the one on the comp site as I have had to change a few things to suit the cover that I want.0 -
yep, FOS it is, all guns blazing,
yep, check the small print,
was only when I made the payment, did I realise that the actual payment was 20-30 pounds more, than quote,
lesson learned
what concerns me more is that the new insurer keeps sending me final notice letters for proof of no claims, when I have sent it in,
I am now lodging official complaint with the new insurer ( Bedford )
I have heard of horror stories about this company cancelling the policy and only returning 25% of the premium, that sure aint going to happen to me, I can assure everyone0
