I would agree to a point - it depends how long the repair would take. My local computer repair place has a 24 hour turnaround, which would not cause significant inconvenience. On the other hand if each repair was taking a fortnight, that certainly would be inconvenient.
The time a repair would take is not the only factor that would determine whether an inconvenience was significant or not. The fact the OP is being asked to go out of their way and return (and be without) the laptop for a third time could also bee seen as significant.
  • Inconvenient yes, but significantly so? Would depend on circumstances I think.

OP, you said your wife was working on spreadsheets, just to double check that this was a personal consumer purchase and not purchased for business?

Yes. Purely bought for personal use.

Battery - If you want a decent battery, buy a replacement battery from eBay etc.

Freezing - Probably needs a software reinstall from the recovery partition. Can be done at home in about an hour. Might even be worth a memory upgrade whilst your at it.

We're not computer experts I'm afraid and wouldn't know how to do a "software reinstall from the recovery partition".

Should we have to do this having paid £220.00 on 20/04/13 for a "Dell 1.83ghz dual core Windows 7 2gb RAM hard drive 14.1" screen 6 months warranty" laptop which has already been back to the shop twice? Doesn't having to do this show that it was not fit for purpose?
