    Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding Contribution Based ESA.

I first claimed ESA in 2011 and was placed into the WRAG in Oct 2011, I got contributory ESA for the 365 days and reverted to Income-Related Based ESA in Oct 2012.

However, In July 2013 I made an appeal against WRAG and to be re-considered for Support Group. I won the appeal and I have been placed into ESA Support Group.

So, now that I am placed in the Support Group for the first time. Do I get re-instated with Contribution Based ESA?

    Thanks,
    RM

Did you appeal against the October 2011 decision to put you in the WRAG?

If you did and won, then that decision would have been overturned and you should be put back on the Contributions based ESA

Yes and No, in short... maybe.

Yes you regain entitlement to ESA C, so your award will be constructed with an underlying entitlement to ESA C. However because you are entitled to ESA IR and you are now in the Support Group this means you get an extra £15.15 (£15.50?) a week Enhanced Disability Premium (Disability Income Guarantee) but because you get this your award will remain what is called ESA IR.

If you had a pension income you would now get the advantages of having an ESA C award on £106 a week.
