Thanks for all your help guys.
I'm going to switch over to Lloyds TSB in the immediate future, their Internet Banking looks great and the Money Manager app is exactly what I was looking for.

Any insider tips and tricks on switching accounts? Anything I should be doing?

If possible change the direct debits yourself. The money manager app looks very good, if you want to keep a close eye on your money then why not check out their mobile banking app. All the best.

  • i've been using ontrees for a few months now to track spending across natwest (joint account), barclays, barclaycard and virgin credit card - all works pretty well so far. Mainly use the iphone version - would def recommend.
  • I'm a cynic - if ontrees and moneytrack (lovemoney.com) are free - how do we know a they are secure and be in business for the long term.... I don't want to use something that's not secure or going to disappear.....

    Any thoughts?

    • The ability to categorise individual transactions - so you can see at the end of month where your money has gone (groceries, insurance, mortgage etc.)
    • The ability to create graphs/charts with this information (maybe a third party app - did Mint/Egg do this once?)
    • Internet Banking with multiple accounts/cards on the same screen for easy account balance monitoring.
    • Internet Banking with custom names for accounts (Savings Car, Freelance Work, Everyday Account etc.)

Barclays Money Tools does all of this online (you can also export data if you want)
  • I'm looking for a new bank account that has the same features as my natwest account for paying contacts and viewing balances on my iPhone/iPad. This is a very handy feature and I wouldn't be interested in any bank account that didn't offer this service, also as part of the 7 day switching thingy, would all my payees be transferred to the new banking app? There seems to be no coverage of features like this on the forums and I don't know how to start a topic on here?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Sam.

Barclays offer much the same online facilities as your Natwest account. You'd have to set up payees again I believe they don't get transferred.
