Barclay Card Application

Options
Ive had three defaults in the past all in quick succession (I was 19 and stupid before anyone says it) which are all due to drop off in the next 12 months.

Ive been re-building my credit history over the past four years, have had a loan on a terrible rate (Not payday) over 24 months, all paid on time, and a Capital One card, 18 months old again all green marks. Ive been squeeky clean for three almost four years.

Yesterday i applied for a Barclay Card Initial online, as i applied, i got all the way to the part where you sign the agreement. When i clicked it said something along the lines of...

Thank you there are some more checks we need to make.

Then that was it, no follow up email, no other communication.

Im a little unsure if to expect a card or not, if so what limit, or what time scale to expect it.

Has anyone else had this happen? Should i call to see if the application was successful.

Im not in anyway desperate for the credit, but would like to know either way.

that means the application has been refered for manual review, it may be yes or No it depends on the underwriter and what your credit file says.

I could be wrong, but I'd say this application was a waste of a credit search.
  • I wouldn't count on getting that card - all you can do is wait and see. They are generally pretty good at updating you within 72 working hours.

As I've been re-pairing my credit history for four years, I've been used to the ups and downs (Mainly downs..Infact all downs) of having three defaults.

It was just a bit of a strange way to end an application. Its not the end of the world if it is a decline. But would be good to get a credit card with major bank. Would really feel like i was getting somewhere (Finally).

    I had this too recently.

I had a mass mailing offering me a Balance Transfer at a certain rate with a typical variable APR of 19.9% on a Platinum card.

Got the same response as you and a letter on Friday offering me a rate of 29.9% instead.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

I got the referral response on a Friday.

The following Monday I had an email confirming the account had been opened with a £10,000 limit.

    Same here :)

Referral on Friday. My credit file isn't too thick... about 2.7 years total, but no late payments on any accounts etc.

Called and was approved today with £6200 limit (0% for 27 months, 18.9% after that). Already applied and got the RBS & Natwest cards with £5100 & £4950 limit (0% for 15 months, 16.9% after) respectively last week.

That's me done for the next 8-12 months atleast. Time to balance transfer and cancel my Aqua with a 45% APR  and probably Cap1 too, though that's the oldest credit card I have so not too keen on cancelling it.

Was looking at stoozing options... but don't know how to get the money from these cares converted into cash. No super-balance transfer with them :(
