Does anyone know how Barclaycard........

Options
.......were selling their PPI in the early 90's please ? 1992 to be precise ?

I'm pretty sure I never asked for PPI, and would like to make a claim but can't actually remember how it was sold, or if I was told I couldn't have the card without it. Would they have had an already ticked box on the form ? Filling in the FOS questionaire to send to Barclaycard at the mo, would 'I don't know' harm my claim ?

I think I fit the bill on other stuff, such as receiving good sick pay, was living with parents at the time etc.

Thanks for any help

  • Did banks even offer PPI in the way we know it back then ? Even if they did, I'm not sure the mis-selling would have been as rife as it became.

I'm not sure it matters how it was sold as it was that long ago, Barclays won't be able to disagree with anything you say anyway.

Call centres didn't exist in they way that they do now, so it was probably an application form that you posted somewhere or you spoke to someone in a branch.

I doubt Barclays have any records and therefore (as I'm finding out for myself with Natwest) unless you have statements which prove you had it, you may not get anything anyway.

I think the ship has sailed on easy pay-outs :D

PPI came about in mid to late 80s. It wasnt marketed heavily until the early 90s.

If you didnt want it and bought it over 20 years ago then why did you keep paying it?

No. That doesnt work with paper as how do you remove a pre printed tick?
