Applying for multiple credit cards

Can anyone please advise me whether its best to apply for one , see if you are successful then apply for the next?

Or, would it be better to just apply for them all at once and see what happens?

I would suggest apply for one to see if you are accepted and what credit limit you get. If all is well try for another one or two. If you get a rejection stop applying for at least 6 months. Once you have 3 cards wait a while... tread slowly and gradually and over time, you can increase the number of cards. :)

I'd apply for two at the same time.... depends how along the stoozing ladder you are

I.e. if new with few cards than can apply for more
If a veteren with 10+ cards then definetly one at a time.
  • Glad I came accross this thread. I applied for an Egg card earlier on this week, was accepted and got the card this morning. I was thinking about applying for 1 or 2 others but wondered if this would affect my credit rating, do you think I'll be OK to this?

Depends on how much outstanding debt you have, how much is your total credit limit and what % they are of your salary... As well as how long youve had the individual cards....

Early on you can start with more card apps at a time, later on you have to slow down and pace your applications.
  • Sorry I didn't make it very clear, this Egg card id my first ever credit card, so from what you say I should be OK to try for a couple more.

Yep.. if your credit history is fine you can go for another 3 at the same time.

Then say give it 4 months, apply for 3
    Another 4months apply for 2

Then it will be one at a time...
  • Sounds good to me as I was thinking of having 2 to stooz with and a third for any purchases I may have to make. I think I'll try for the Virgin card as my second stooz card but I'm not sure which would be a good card for just purchases, is the Sainsburys card a good one to go for?
