actually I know a hell of a lot about both forms of meters so your wrong 100%. and as I said before nearly all providers have recently introduced a standing charge. your reluctance to name your provider makes you look like a forum troll. I asked you more then once to name your provider so people can help and you have not so your the one trolling not me. I am going to mark this thread as spam. without knowing the provider no one here can help you0

FWIW it's Equipower, whom I have been with for many years and never paid a penny in SC to. But I could switch to any supplier, so how would the operation of the prepayment meter be different in such a change?0

there is a button on the prepayment meter that if you press it will tell you what the minimum is you need to top up with. Your key will store the £5 you have previously put on it. When it happens again, top up with £6 and that will cover the emergency0

But you don't use your overdraft?;)Kernel_Sanders wrote: »My bank has recently introduced a £6 charge just for using a day of my pre-arranged overdraft (used to be interest only). I might need that fiver to allay such a penalty.
Nice contradiction. :T0 -
How silly of me. Having an extra £5 in my current account could never make any difference as to whether I accidentally went into debit.Absolute rubbish!
Makes no difference at all.
If I used avoid instead of allay, would that make it clearer? I stopped using the overdraft in order to avoid the £6 charge. But you don't use your overdraft?;)
Nice contradiction. :T
There is no such button but I believe your other two points are correct.there is a button on the prepayment meter that if you press it will tell you what the minimum is you need to top up with. Your key will store the £5 you have previously put on it. When it happens again, top up with £6 and that will cover the emergency
I noticed on the display there was an item saying '£1 token credit'. I went back to the shop and put a pound onto the key to test it; when I inserted it the display changed from £0.06 E to £1.06. No money has been lost, so it has proved that the 6p of emergency left was incorrect and should have shown that all emergency had been repaid, with 6p credit on top.
Well I'm £1.06 in credit ATM but want another £5 emergency as I'm going away for a few days. Thing is, I can't have it until I drop below £1!You have to be at least £1 in credit in order for the emergency credit to be available next time you need it.0 -
