You need to register with the current supplier, even if you are planning to change companies/meters. Make sure you give them meter readings as well.
Most companies will fit a prepayment meter free of charge.0 -
I cannot recommend strongly enough that you do not switch to a prepayment meter! I did about 10 months ago with british gas and have regretted it ever since. I have had such a nightmare about it that in the end i resorted to setting up a petition to the prime minister about their ineptitude. It is very often more expensive to do it that way, direct debit is cheaper by my understanding. After a year of battling, which I won't bore you with, I evenmtually got them to come and remove the blasted thing.0

im on a pepayment meter now, and i find it so much easyr, it 2 lest bills to worry about at the end on the month. i have been with british gas and did find them taking loads of money compered with npower (who i was with in old house)savings for 2012.. New year new me.. Going to save save save... and not spend spend spend. :rotfl:
