I've just got a new laptop running windows8. Microsoft say they have sent an email to my virgin account and I need to verify this. However this account is not mine so I cant open it. How do I get in touch with Microsoft to get them to resend this email to my virgin account? Sorry if this sounds basic but I'm not getting anywhere at all after hours of trying.

I would try to do what you originally did which caused Microsoft to send the email to the wrong account - but this time using the correct email address!
Otherwise Microsoft Customer Service might be able to help - but that's presumably what you've already tried.0
