Problem with balance transfer

Hi
I've just transfered two balances to "Citi Bank" (new account).
It tooks four weeks to complete and when i recieved the card, "Citi" had only taken the lesser of the two balances. When i called they said that the second balance wasnt transfered because it would of taken me over my credit limit. I told them I wouldnt of taken the card out if I had known they would set the limit at such a low amount. They said there was nothing i sound do and i cant cancel the card as the amount has already been transfered.
Surely they are wrong!! I filled out the application and they knew the two amounts I wanted to transfer from the start. They transfered the smaller of the two amounts and hadnt mentioned the problem with the other at all.

I am waiting for a return call from a supervisor.

Can anyone offer any help??

Thanks in advance

    Hi Steve

Sorry to say they are right. :( They can set the credit limit to what tthey want and it is up to you to keep payments going on existing cards until the BT has gone through. :o

I would try to take out another card. I assume this is debt and not stoozing? Never rely on a credit limit being high enough to accept a debt until you have it confirmed

We have just taken out a card with IF (Intelligent Finance) and they gave me a decision and credit limit when I applied online :)

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the speedy reply :)

Oh well.... you live and learn.. I'm going to pay off the small balance they have transfered and close the card.

Hopefully it has cost them a lot in admin costs...

I would'nt close the account but keep it going for the 0% period. They have done a credit check on you now and you have the money at 0% how ever little. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face! You can make some money from them now and get your own back. A big organisation isn't going to worry about losing a customer with a low credit limit.

Keep the card going however tempting it is to close... Revenge is a dish best served cold.. ;)

Maybe in future do 1 balance transfer and they would then transfer upto your credit limit. Or give you a call.
