    Morning all,

Camelot i hope their fingers drop off is all i can say.

Not good news from me i am afraid. Shortly after i posted on yesterdays thread i had a message from my daughter in South Africa. One of the babies in their care was taken to hospital yesterday. They noticed she was breathing erratically yesterday morning, took her to the doctor and he sent her straight to hospital. She has pneumonia. She slept most of yesterday and drugs are being pumped into her intravenously. She is still pretty ill but she is holding her own.

She came into my daughter and her partners care straight after being discharged from hospital care where she had been for a number of weeks as she was very premature. She was HIV tested and the test came back negative.

At my daughters insistance she has been tested for the HIV virus again and the test has come back positive. They are waiting for a full HIV test which should give them some idea of what they are dealing with and how sick this little girl is.

As you can imagine, they are both devastated. I am too, i'm so upset for this little girl who has had such a rough start in life and i'm so upset for my daughter(s) too. I'm now worrying about the risk of her and the rest of the babies in their care being infected.

My daughter assures me there is no risk of them being infected as there is only a risk through blood contamination but i'm not so sure. Do men/women who pass on the virus after having intercourse bleed? No course they don't, its spread by bodily fluids. In this country carers wear latex gloves to protect them from viruses transmitted by bodily functions.

I haven't told my husband. He wouldn't be any support whatsoever to me. He doesn't support her lifestyle, thinks she is off her head living in South Africa let alone giving the whole of her life to the care of abandoned babies. To be honest i'm not sure of what his reaction will be.

Comes to something when you cant talk to the very person who you should class as your 'best friend'. I don't think i can talk to anyone about it... so, my friends, i am telling you as i need you to be my best friends (maybe just for a day or two till ive built up my own strength).

I am hoping to go grocery shopping this morning. Hubby has done his accounts and i'm waiting for him to eat his breakfast so that we can go.

Hope you have a good day all.

The drugs that they can give HIV infected people keep the virus load so slow that is no risk of infection - once they are on the drugs. HIV is not the death sentence it used to be and people live long healthy lives with the right treatment. Of course I dont know what treatment she will receive in Africa.

Hester - you sound more like your usual self xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Judi - Hugs to you. So sorry you can't tell your best friend, at least you can tell us. Such a horrible time for you all.

Viewing went really well, the couple are talking about offering so fingers crossed again!

Realised this morning that an ancient video camera is missing also. Not sure it would be of any use to anyone as it must be about 18 years old. Only problem is I think it had a tape in it of the kids when they were young as DS2 was watching old film a while ago.

Still, I have decided that tomorrow is a new day, our luck must improve soon and being miserable is wasting my time. Onwards!

Going to view a property myself tomorrow, I like the area it's in, just hope it's the kind of thing I am looking for.

    Take care. XX

    Hi all

Just playing catch-up with MSE while Mr LW plays catch-up with a 2-week-old episode of “Falling Skies”.:o

Camelot (((HUGS))) again mate; I've suffered a break-in before, but thankfully the pond life concerned didn't bank on Penny-Dog so they left empty-handed, just made a mess. When they take things that mean such a lot to you, beside the value, it must feel like the bottom fell out of your world.:(

TTFTM Finicky ferrets, eh?:D Ah well, give 'em a cuddle for me anyway.:o

Judi I hope the poor wee baby pulls through – life seems so very unfair sometimes. As for what your DD has chosen to do with her life – she has my admiration, fwiw. Even if I was well, there's no way I could do what she's doing. More power to her!

I've made a "lemming" cake for Mr LW 's lunch box this week, as I had a lemon to use up, and a peach crumble. It should've been apricot crumble; Mr LW asked the bloke on the market for apricots, didn't check what he was given (he wouldn't know the difference anyway, if we're honest);) and when he got home, he'd been given peaches.:rotfl: No matter - they should cook up in a crumble just as well, and be just as nice.:o

The little "princesses" will be arriving about 09:30 tomorrow - I can't wait! It's three years since Pandora stayed with me last, and I've never met her friend Patsy - she previously lived with Pip, who has since made her journey to the Summerlands. From what I can gather Pandora didn't fare so well after Pip's demise, so her owners got her a little friend, and she's happy again now.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Judi - I think your daughter and her partner do a wonderful job. You can certainly count on me for support. I hope the little one is strong enough to pull through

Camelot - when my mum's house was broken into a couple of years before she died, a lot of very sentimental objects were taken. The police told us to check local second hand shops and pawn brokers and the thieves were eventually found via the sale of a very unique gold charm bracelet. I guess it's still worth checking places like that and the modern equivalent, ebay.

LW - Oh yes they are finicky but am sure they would love a wolfy cuddle! I hope you have lots of fun with your new guests :)

Lou Lou it does help thank you. I'm absolutely clueless about STD's and stuff like that. I don't need to know if you know what i mean.

News from the baby house is that she Unathi is sleeping soundly and responding well to the drugs she is being given. They aren't going to know for a day or two about the results of the full HIV test but i'll let you know how things progress. Obviously i'm hoping she just has pneumonia and the HIV test was just a mistake.

My daughter is used to death and dying. She left school being a carer in an old peoples home before going on to caring for children and young adults with mental disabilities but a child dying will be new to her and i hope it doesn't come to that.

Groceries bought and put away. House is a tip. I haven't vacuumed since Friday and there's dog hairs everywhere. I really cant be bothered with stepping round people and dogs today so it will have to wait till tomorrow i think.

Ive goaded hubby to do one of his famous Chinese curries tonight. At least i'll only have the washing up to do.:)
