Smart phone -app not working

Just started using my first smart phone recently, Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.

Took load of photos & videos at an event, which has used lot of space and now stops some apps working.

When I try to start Gallery app, which allows you to view photos, I get message:

"Not enough memory. Delete some items."

When I check: Settings/Storage, it shows:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
USB storage
Total space 1.10GB
Available space 0.00
System storage
Available space 1.09GB
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What's the best way to delete items & free space ??

What items should/can I delete ??

I'm surprised it can't run basic apps, when System storage shows 1.09GB available.
I guess the phone/app must be using the USB storage to run.

Thanks

    Transfer some apps to the system storage.

    Can you chuck a micro SD card in the machine and use that for your photos? It'll give the phone more breathing space!

    plug the phone into your PC using the USB cable that came with it.
    it will then show up on your PC as a removable USB drive.
    Move items from "Pictures" or "DCIM" folders to your PC

    that will free up room

    Plus if you get a micro sd card you can move some apps onto it to gain more space. This is usually found in the settings area.
