Cat for someone allergic to cats?

Devon Rexs don't moult much, they have very wooly fur and very little guard hair (altho people an still be allergic, so should check before you get one)
Failing that, I'd say gerbils (easily interacted with for children (but no tail pulling!) or guineapigs (can be kept sheltered outside so minimises fur coming into contact with sufferer)0
