Butlins adult weekends - just how mad are they?!

Has anyone been on one? I am looking at a weekend in Minehead in November and I was really excited untill I started looking at reviews!
Is it 'just' stags and hen parties, or do you get a mix of people?
What is there to do during the day (is the fair open?)
Help!

  • Hiya I went on an 90's weekend to minehead earlier this year. Never again! Males and females p!ssed up day and night, parties going on all day and men exposing themselves at every opportunity. There was no chance of getting any sleep even during the day!
Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear but be prepared. Saying that it depends if its a themed weekend, obviously this probably wouldn't happen if it was a family themed weekend.
    Hope you have fun!!

Thanks Vodkachick68, luckily I haven't booked it yet, just looking for opinions before I did. It sounds awful! what a shame as I really wanted to go and see the groups they had on. Do you think it could be a bit calmer on an 80's type weekend?
Its the 'Back together' weekend we wanted to go to with Atomic kitten, five, liberty X etc

I don't think it matters which groups you're going to see to be honest. A work colleague's husband goes to one every year with his mates, they don't seem to care what bands are on, they're just going for a 48-hour pi** up.

I wouldn't think it would be any calmer on an 80's weekend, infact probably worse as people will be re-living their youth and doing what they used to do when they were 18 lol. Seriously i may have just gone on a weekend when it was probably really bad. Go for it and just keep an open mind.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I won, I won, I won!
I went to a 90s adult only weekend, admittedly though it was several years ago and it was pretty quiet during the day, we went swimming etc. Times may have changed though.........lol

Have you thought about staying off site and seeing if you can get a day pass, so at least you should get some sleep then

That would of been an ideal solution but I don't think we can stay off site, just had a quick google and although you can get a day pass its only untill early evening and the show will be later at night.

I am going to have a think about it over the next couple of days. Thanks :)

  • I go every year with my daughter, in fact we've been to 7 already this year and I have another 2 planned and she has 3 planned. They are nowhere near as bad as people are making out. Yes people tend to drink a lot and stay out later than usual, but in all my years of going I have never experienced any trouble. The people who go are out for a good weekend and are very friendly. We met some people on our first visit and still meet them whenever we go to the same weekend. In fact our group of friends has got bigger and bigger each year. It was one of our butlins friends 50th in march and we has 13 tables pushed together in the skyline on Saturday afternoon and there were still people standing. You wouldn't get those sort of friendships at many other resorts. We always to go to Skegness though, much friendlier than minehead, but I've been to minehead before and would still recommend you give it a go. There are some very good offers on at the moment. Give it a go, you'll love it! X

having worked there for nearly 10 years I can say they are not that bad, as people have already stated most people are just there too have a good time, now back in the day they had a 18-30s break now as you can imagine they was rough, but I believe they stopped doing this now, mind u I left over 10 years ago, so I suppose anything can be going on now lol
Take every day as it comes!!
  • Hi! I did the 80s weekend at Minehead last year and it was fine. I think the 80s weekend attracts an older customer than the 90s weekend, as does the soul motown weekend.
I never saw or experienced anything that would put me off going again.
Yes there were stag and hen parties but everyone was in good spirits.
The entertainment was great fun - there were so many acts that some were scheduled for the afternoons.
