N&P Application

Hi.
I just applied for N&P account and got the following email:-
Thank you for your N&P Gold Classic Current Account application, reference number xxxx.
Based on the information you have provided, there are some parts of your application that we need to review before we can confirm your application has been successful. This will usually take two working days.
If we need to seek further information or clarification from you in order to make a decision, we will contact you via a secure messaging service.
We use this service as it is far more secure than a standard email and is one of the measures N&P have put in place to protect you from fraud and identity theft. We will email you with how to access the service if necessary but you will need your application reference number and be able to recall the security questions you answered during your application.
Is this good or bad? Is it normally online immediate decision for N&P applications.
Thanks
MS

I got this message and was approved the next day.
Most banks can't get information from the credit reference agencies on weekends so its most likely they are waiting for the information to come through.0 -
Got an email today saying application has been declined. No reason - just states did not meet their scoring criteria.
I rang N&P and the adviser spoken with the underwriting unit and came back with same response not meeting their criteria. I have no problems with my credit report - 34k salary and all credit agreements uptodate. I don't see a reason for a rejection.
I asked the adviser if I can appeal against the decision - he was not sure but then said no decision is final.
Has anyone managed to appeal N&P rejection?

We originally tried to open a business account with N&P in branch. As it was a new company, it obviously had no credit history, but thie was explained to the branch personel before we started.
Made the application, ... and yes, you've guessed it, ... it was rejected with an equally brief respose as you received.
So I hot footed it off to the branch.
Upshot was, yes it can be appealled. It needs to go to head office, and the help of a local branch advisor certainly helps that (although there are not many branches around now, and I think they stopped offering business accounts to new applicants a few years back.)
But ultimately it's up to the financial institution whether they wish you provide you banking arrangements.
N&P are, or at least were, in significant financial issues of their own recently.0 -
Thanks for your reply.
I will write an appeal letter to them. I know it's up to financial organisation to provide any banking arrangements but I do feel the application has been declined for no good reason. Just back in January I was accepted for a Tesco card with a good credit limit. I also just a done a pre-apply eligibility check for Credit card on MSE and it came up with 90% success rate for most credit cards. This is just an indication that my credit history is good.

You've just got the auto-generated "Computer says NO" response based on however they come up with their score.
N&P, being not too big, have the power to over-ride the computer response at head office ... but they need a request to do so.
Good luck! The problem with a letter is I'm not certain it would get to the right person who can over-ride their systems. It may just be answered by a lowly CS member who will just confirm the "Computer says NO"
I don't know who you do need to speak to at H.O. sorry. As I said, I got a member of staff at the local branch to force it through for me. I don't know who she eventually spoke to, but I remember she did speak to a few people before she got through to the one who would help.
And I guess I embarrassed the local branch member a little bit encouraging her to help us by towering over her and demanding to know why we were rejected when she previously advised us to apply knowing all the facts as we presented on the application form
Was with them over 10 years in the end and often used our local branch. Finally quit them when they not only closed our local branch (along with many others) but also decided to start charging us a monthly fee.
(and have recently left HSBC after they said they would start charging us a monthly fee, and I've just read they have restarted their branch closure programme too)0
