Kindle Paperwhite Availability

I want to buy DS a Kindle Paperwhite for passing his A' levels but I just can't seem to find one. Did I fall asleep and miss something? Have they been pulled off the shelves. Tesco Direct have none, Amazon have none, there are none in any Argos in Northern Ireland (and I just wasted £2  on the Telegraph to get the voucher!!) Currys have none. People are bidding over the cost of a brand new one for a second hand one on Ebay. I am not all that confident about buying this sort of item from there tbh. What is the reason for the lack of Kindle Paperwhite?

The 3G one is available on Amazon but it's pricey! I wonder if they're phasing out the WiFi one? I hope they're not!

ETA: Does he need a paperwhite? I've had both and the only advantage of the paperwhite (IMHO) is thatI can read in bed without disturbing my OH or keeping him awake.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.

Actually, I'm not sure if he does need one. He only wants it as an e reader and so the Kindle Fire seemed to be a lot of stuff he didn't want. I looked at some reviews for the paperwhite and it looked pretty good. I have the Kindle touch and the only downside is the lack of light which is why I thought the paperwhite. He will use it when travelling, so I thought, dark trains at night and so on. I would be really glad of advice if anyone has any?0

Get the cheap one and a case with a light. The fire is a tablet not an e reader.Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0
