I'm with edf and just decided to change tariff from my april fix to the long sept. 2016 fix. No problems..but as I was clicking it through I saw that the new tarrif becomes effective immediately. Tidying this up I sent over my new gas/electricity readings for the new bill. NOW...does that mean that these new - to them-units (which were used on my old, cheaper tariff) will now be calculated on the new longer and more expensive tariff to which I have just switched?
Have mailed them, but does anyone know how they do it please..? Thanks

Unless EDF have agreed to delay the switchover, which from the sounds of it they haven't, then yes you will be paying the new rates from today.
The possible benefit you are getting is if the new tariff is no longer available when the current one ends. In the meantime, if you calculate what the EXTRA is that you're likely to be paying on the new tariff until the end of your current one, it probably doesn't come to very much.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. If you don't send a reading then it is estimated at the time you switch. Just as it is estimated at the time of a price rise on a variable tariff. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Good job I sent the reading I guess. Will probably take them about 10 days to respond, but I will stop worrying! Thank you0
