in Credit cards
I have been looking through the website on here, and have spotted the pre eligibility checker that doesnt show up on your credit file.
Is this any good?

It's been fairly accurate to me. Reckoned I had a good chance of getting MBNA fluid credit card and some barclaycards. I just got a barclaycard and already had fluid. Reckoned I had a bad chance of getting Natwest/RBS world yourpoints... flunked the application. So to me yes it has been accurate.
As far as I know it uses callcredit for its estimate (like a lot of soft checkers), so the only problem I can see is if the data on your callcredit report is vastly different from EQ and EX.Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
It doesn't make any sense for some things though. For example, with my son who has never had any credit in his name it said he had a 7/10 chance of getting Capital One Classic but Capital One say your not likely to be approved without having had credit in the uk before.0

It may be that the checker is out of date and is referring to the old version of the card, the visa one.Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
It's completely possible to get a Capital One Classic card if you've never had credit before - despite what their website says - so long as there's some evidence of account history on the applicant's credit file; e.g. mobile phone contract, british gas, bank account etc.
Approval might be less likely but it's absolutely possible.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

A mobile phone contract is credit... as is any arrangement (to pay) that appears on a credit file. The clue is kinda in the name...Oh, you wee bazza!0
