Why does windows media player not recognise mp3 player

Any help? have searched all over internet and can't get this fixed.
Used to have an old mp3 bought years ago from argos called aigo, and wmp recognised it everytime with no software needed, or disc, and it was easy to sync to.
Fast forward to today and have bought a technika one from Tesco which wmp, despite being up to date, doesn't recognise, and which doesn't show alongside c and d drive; and only today bought a Phillips one from argos, assuming the Tesco one was duff, getting a message telling me the device was successfully installed and recognised as a Phillips, yet again not appearing on the sync section of wmp, or alongside the c and d drive on my computer. What on earth am I doing wrong?

If you are talking about an mp3 player - its probably missing drivers, cheaper players will be more awkward - you probably need to get hold of the right drivers for the technika.0

I believe I have the drivers as each time I plug either in it tells me device installed correctly. It even gives the name of the Phillips go gear one which shows under devices and printers but not on my computer screen as a separate drive, and does not appear recognised by wmp or Phillips songbird music player.0
