Easily done sammy. Read first few posts and type reply. Agree with you that 1st August is really late. I have a suspicion as to what has happened which is why I've suggested OP provides official proof of end of term date.0

Yeah I guess I should get a letter stating the official end of term dates.
Regarding payment. So I got £20 into my account last Thursday. When will I next be paid if anyone has any experience of this? Would it be next Thursday?
Also do they pay you the JSA for the two upcoming weeks, or is it for the 2 previous weeks that have passed? Thanks people0 -
2 weeks in arrears. Have you signed again for the 2nd time? Or is it still too early?0

I've signed on 3 times already0

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the Universities send their official end of term dates to the DWP. I know mine officially ended in June0

They usually do but its an informal arrangement and from what i have seen internally it didn't happen this year. Saying that they must have made this decision based on some kind of evidence contrary to yours (well you would hope...)
ETA: I have found the formal list, if you post the course and Uni I'll look it up for you. Looks like it was received really late."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
This might sound cynical but I think DWP are using the day after your graduation date as the one you're entitled to JSA from (date that will be on your certificate). They should be using official end of term date. Definitely needs to be looked into, I assume you've got all the paperwork from DWP so that you can show them that what they've done is incorrect.0

I agree but think its probably been used because they had no other date to go on, when I look on the DWp internal intranet it shows a publication date of 9th August which implies they wouldn't have had that knowledge when claim made.
Still wrong but hopefully sortable."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
I've gotten a letter that explicitly states when I finished my course and the term ended. I've drafted up a letter to send to them saying that I think I should be paid from the earlier dates. Hopefully it will sort it
Thanks for the replies0 -
This is a common misunderstanding people coming out of education have when claiming benefits. Usually official end dates of course are early September, late August being the earliest. The college or Uni will obviously state June in correspondents with students so they don't turn up to when they shouldn't do.
Your in the re-assessment/retake period until then. Check your uni website for when this period ends and see if it corresponds with what they have told you.0
