We use the Sebo for upstairs ie the carpets and Henry for downstairs (wooden floor) works well as a system.

Same here :D We have cats and a dog (although he's pretty much non-shedding) and have previously tried virtually every type of vacuum cleaner going (except a Miele, which I know are highly recommended so would be my next choice!) and have issues with them all till we got [STRIKE]Henry[/STRIKE], sorry, Hetty who is fab ;)

Our Sebo is excellent too, but a couple of attachments broke within the first three years so it's been relegated to upstairs, which in our case as we're part-way through major renovations, remains uncarpeted. Suction on the Sebo remains very good and we could most likely get replacement parts if we had the time, lol!

We found the Dyson to be pretty rubbish, with bits breaking off left, right and centre, plus suction was only good initially - and I agree with pimento emptying the Dyson was horribly messy - I definitely wouldn't recommend them at all :(

The builders who did work for me, such as putting in new skirting board, had a Henry, so they must be decent quality and value. My Dyson put up with a lot of abuse. It needs parts replacing, not its fault, I got bitumen on the underside, so it cannot be used on carpets until I fix it. Otherwise I'd say it was robust. I have a Dyson cordless. I like the ease of use, no fiddly cable to carry around, and I can use it to clean the car. But it does fill quickly, you really do need to buy a second battery, and it is a little fiddly e.g. undoing the cylinder to empty it is not easy. That said, I much prefer it to a corded hoover, it is so convenient and quick to use. There is another make of cordless which claims to be very good, but it is for carpets only, I don't think you can use it to dust skirting, window sills, cars etc.

Henry for me, with 9 cats - it beats all the Dysons we've had. No wonder office cleaners use them - they're serious kit.

  • Another vote for Henry here. Got mine last week and boy can he suck. In a good way. What I like:

    Very powerful
The cable feeds out as you pull him along
The cable is very long - 10 metres, no unplugging and replugging him in
The hose extension means I can do the whole staircase without having to move Henry up the stairs at all.
    He has a smiley face

And personally I prefer to remove and replace a bag, than tipping my old bagless hoover's container into the bin, dust going everywhere, and cleaning all the filters!

I've got a Sebo, had it for 4 years now and the only thing I don't like using it for is the car as we have a gravel drive. Even in upright position the brushes go round so I have to put it on a mat.

I am a professional Carpet Cleaner.

    For work I use a Sebo (BS46)

    For home I use a Sebo (BS36)

    For spare I have a sebo (BS36)

Spend the money, buy the extra tools. The machine will outlast you! My work sebo is used 5 days a week, and is now over seven years old.

Take the tube away from the machine and the separate motor on the brushes is not operational.
